Filial Piety

right, today's training was pretty fun actually..

although i was really shagged out by the time training ended.

after that played pool with yiming, kw, danand kenny were there but they left after a while..

so after that, i went to meet my family for dinner at this coffeeshop near my house.

because i reached there early, i got a seat, bought a drink, and basically stoned.

i was looking around, observing people going about their business during the busy dinner hour.

and i saw a sight that hit me like a bomb.

there he was, this frail, old man, wearing those old kinda spectacles with huge frames, slightly hunched, carrying this big tray of what seemed like dirty dishes.

right, so he was a cleaner (it doesnt take a genius realise that).

so i observed him for another 5 minutes, and the more i looked at him, the more my heart wrenched.

this is an old man of at least 70 years of age, his hands and legs were scrawny, and he looked like he was about to fall under the weight of the dishes that he carried anytime.

and yet, he goes about doing his job properly, making sure that the tables were clean after every group of diners finished.

what made my heart ache even more was the fact that there were another 2 cleaners that were hired - 2 indian women.

ok i have no intention of being racist here, but those 2 women, for the 45 minutes that i was there, probably cleaned up less than half the number of tables that the old man did, and that's after adding the tally of both theirs up, i swear.

i am sure this old man has, kids. why did they allow their father, at a ripe old age of 70 plus (many people nowadays do not even live till that old), work in a coffeeshop as a cleaner, slogging his guts out? in my opinion, that is never a way to treat ur parents, as they have brought u up and no matter how bad they may treat u, they have invested heavily financially to bring u up to what u are now. and for that, they at least deserve something in return.

well that's just my opinion, and i noe a lot of people will be saying that i do not know how it feels because frankly i tink my parents have been kinder and slacker with me more than i could have wished for. and make no mistakes, i am really thankful for that.

and a lot of people will be crapping me out because my description above isn't exactly one that will make people's heart ache as much as mine did (i'm not even sure if people's hearts will ache one bit), but that's mainly due to my inadequecy in the english langauge.

but it will take me a long time to get the image of the frail old man clearing tables non stop outta my head, that's how deep an impression it has left on me...

is that how to treat one's parents?
